Surprising news has just been announced by LucasFilm. According to a post online, the directorial duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have decided to exit directing the standalone Han Solo film due to “different creative visions.”
“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
According to president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy:
“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon.”
Lord and Miller have garnered much success with such films such as ‘The LEGO Movie’ and have been attached to direct the standalone ‘Star Wars film since July 2015.
No word if this will affect the production schedule of the film.
The yet to be titled Han Solo film is still slated to be released in May 2018.
More to come…
