Warlock-of-Marvels-X-Men

A new casting call has been spotted online for Fox’s ‘New Mutants,’ and most believe it is for none other than one of the original members of the New Mutants, the Phalanx hero Warlock. The casting call is looking for a tall and skinny male who is very good with movement, but has no dialogue, which leads us to believe that the person will be doing motion capture work for the character, with another, more well-known actor to be brought in later to do the voice-work, much the same as they did with Colossus for ‘Deadpool.’

Here is the full casting call:

SKINNY MAN – Male, 20’s – 60’s; Caucasian, must be over 6’9″, extremely tall and skinny. We are looking for someone who is very good with movement. This is a featured principal role with no dialogue.

It is an interesting choice as many assumed that if the ‘New Mutants’ film featured Warlock he would be entirely CGI due to the nature of his ability to shift his body into various configurations, but perhaps they felt having someone physically on set would make things easier for both the director and the other actors, so they would have someone to play off.

For those not in the know, Warlock, while not technically a mutant, is a member of the alien Phalanx species, who are techno-organic beings who once tried to invade the Earth. Warlock was an outcast from his people, who disagreed with and fought against the invasion, which is a big reason why he was invited to join the team of heroes. His personality is pretty out there, making him sure to be the comic relief for the film, which does make me wonder who they have in mind to voice the character. Shooting for ‘New Mutants’ is set to begin next month, with a targeted release date for the film set for April 13th, 2018, so at least we will not have too long to wait to find out the answers to all of our questions.
