Blu Hunt (‘The Originals’) has been on the shortlist to portray Danille Moonstar in Josh Boone’s ‘New Mutants‘ for months and now the role is officially hers! She was up against True O’Brien from ‘Days of Our Lives’ for the part and it looks like we’ll be seeing Hunt portray the Native American mutant who originated from Boulder, Colorado. Hunt will be joining a cast that includes Henry Zaga, Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, and Rosario Dawson.
No word yet if the film will have an R-Rating as ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Logan’ did but as they are planning on having a horror themed movie it wouldn’t surprise me if it went dark enough to deserve one. The plot has been mainly kept under wraps, but we do know that their origin will be slightly different and have the five mutants trapped in a secret facility against their will which will require them to team up in order to escape.
Moonstar’s main mutant power is the ability to create realistic illusions based off of a person’s fears or desires. She is going to be pivotal to the script according to sources, and we’ve already learned that Demon Bear will be a villain in the film which Moonstar played a vital role in the original story arc which introduced the character.
