Finn Jones is very lucky that Marvel/ Netflix has the track record it does, and also very lucky that ‘The Defenders’ has so many people excited, otherwise ‘Iron Fist‘ might have been a serious blow to the Netflix corner of the MCU, being the first series getting major criticisms from both fans and critics alike. And while the argument could be made that a lot of the fault lies with showrunner Scott Buck, the man who decided not to include K’un-Lun, the dragon Shou-Lao, or give Jones time for proper physical training (and who for some reason was then given control of ‘Inhumans‘ over on ABC, which also has me very worried), the fact remains that ‘Iron Fist,’ with Finn Jones as its lead, is the worst of the Marvel shows leading up to ‘The Defenders,’ and many of us wondered whether Netflix would even bother giving it a second season. However, it seems Marvel and Netflix have a bit more faith in the series than we do, as Jones recently announced, during an appearing at Puerto Rico Comic-Con 2017, that a Season 2 announcement is coming soon:

While he did not say for sure that it was happening, we can basically assume he is stating that Netflix is about to announce Season 2 of ‘Iron Fist.’ At this point, I would be willing to give it a shot if the show goes through some serious retooling, replacing Scott Buck with someone competent, and makes sure Jones is truly ready for the role this time around. After all, there is clearly an audience that likes the Danny Rand character, and there is no denying the success of the show despite the critical hits, being the most binged premiere this year on Netflix and the second-highest viewed Marvel-season, so something is there that Netflix and Marvel should capitalize on. However, it is a gamble, because if they blow it again, they will serious hurt their franchise, and the faith their audience has in their ability to deliver quality shows.
