Last we saw of Iain Glen’s Jorah Mormont on ‘Game of Thrones‘ the character wasn’t doing so well having contracted the Greyscale disease. With Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen having sent him away to find a cure for that which afflicts him you would expect him to show up at least one more time as an off-screen death wouldn’t feel fitting for his character but what else can he hope to manage having to not only cure the uncurable but also find a way to Daenerys’ side who has crossed the Narrow Sea with her dragons and army to take back the Iron Throne.

In a recent interview his role was unsurprisingly brought up, and while he wasn’t too forthcoming on details of the upcoming season he was candid about his fate so far:

“I’ve always enjoyed playing Jorah. It’s been a role that’s been good to me so far. … There’s quite a high death count in Game Of Thrones and they don’t blanch at removing favourite characters. They just get rid of them in a brutal way. My end may well be close but so far I’m doing OK.”

If he is unable to fend off this incurable disease he had decided to take his life so as not to become one of the mindless stone men. It seems as if they would give him a more fitting death than to go that route but I’m not sure how they’ll have him go out in a blaze of glory that still has him supporting the love of his life. Perhaps he will find a cure but give his life helping fend off invaders in one of Daenerys’ free cities to keep her dream alive.

However, I’m not holding my breath that he’ll be able to survive through the eighth season at this point.

What are your thoughts on Jorah Mormont surviving the greyscale? Do you feel that he still had a significant role to play in the story going forward? Will he even survive the upcoming seventh season? Share your thoughts below!

‘Game of Thrones’ returns to HBO on July 16th, 2017.
