Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ has had an influx of Inhumans so with Robbie Reyes saying he made a deal with the devil to become Ghost Rider the agents have been skeptical and now we’ve got the true origin story of the televised version of the Spirit of Vengeance. If you haven’t seen this week’s episode you clearly will want to run now but if you don’t care or just can’t wait to find out then you’ll want to read ahead.
So last night’s “The Good Samaritan” gave us the lowdown on what happened and it was a bit of a fun surprise that opened up the world for Marvel in more ways than one!
For starters, we’ve learned that Robbie didn’t exactly sell his soul as much as trade places with the existing Ghost Rider in order to save his life and become the Spirit of Vengeance. We learn his tale as he tells both Daisy and his brother his origin story. In the same accident caused by a hit which had been taken out on his uncle which paralyzed his brother and actually killed Reyes the previous Ghost Rider returned him to life to continue on.
Not quite the demonic tale that Reyes had been telling but we still don’t know if the previous Ghost Rider may have actually been Johnny Blaze or how things will play out moving forward. This could still heavily tie into the mystic realm of Marvel and the door is open to it though it seems like that is an aspect which isn’t quite the focus here as of yet, possibly a focus if a spinoff series were to happen!
There was a nod to Blaze though in the episode if you noticed a certain motorcycle stuntman being shown off on a poster that was advertising the character. It was hard to tell if this was an Easter Egg or foreshadowing things to come.
Are you happy with the origin of the new Ghost Rider has evolved on screen? What direction do you think that they’ll be taking the character going forward? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
