Nineteen years after the release of ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’, Pottermania has returned with ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’. Over the weekend, witches and wizards of all ages flocked to bookstores around the world to pick up their copies of the script to catch up with The Boy Who Lived on his birthday, which happened to also coincide with the official opening of the West End play created by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, John Tiffany, and Sonia Friedman. But with this brand new tale emerging from the wizarding world, does that mean that we should be expecting some other new adventures featuring Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their kids? Don’t get your hopes up, Potterheads.

While speaking to Radio Times at the official launch day event for ‘The Cursed Child’ at the Palace Theater, Rowling revealed that she has no intention of revisiting Harry and the Potters again. And with this five-hour play presented in two parts finally making its debut, she feels that this is the best place to leave the legendary character:

“[He] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now. [‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’] chimed perfectly with the material I had about the next generation and I could see it would work perfectly. So I never wanted to write another novel, but this will give the fans something special.”

Of course, this likely doesn’t apply to the new material that periodically appears on Pottermore about the various characters from the author’s magical novels. Also, Rowling definitely isn’t done with the wizarding world just yet as ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ (which boasts the writer’s first screenplay) is heading to theaters this December and will likely get a sequel or two from WB. Plus, there’s always new and exciting attractions at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Studios theme parks. So despite Harry’s adventure being completed, there won’t be a shortage of stories from his world for some time.

Do you think that we’ve read the last story featuring Harry Potter? Would you want ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ to be his final adventure? Let us know in the comments.
