It has been a pretty good year for the Netflix corner of the MCU, as this year has already seen the release of ‘Daredevil’ season 2 (which was a moderate critical success, though not as much as Season 1), and the big news regarding ‘Iron Fist‘ being on schedule, and ‘Luke Cage‘ coming out later this year. The latest news from the street-level heroes team regards just who will be running the show during the ‘Defenders’ mini-series event, which promises to unite all of the Netflix heroes (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) onto one team to meet an enemy too big for any of them to take on alone. It seems the job was given to the ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 showrunners, Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, with ‘Daredevil’ executive producer Drew Goddard also on board for the same role in the mini-series, also being joined by the Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, who had the following to say about the announcement:

“We’re incredibly excited to be able to bring our four street level heroes together in an epic tale woven by Doug and Marco whose work on ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ speaks for itself. They write and produce not only great action and adventure, but also the heart and touch of humor that’s makes us Marvel. With the inclusion of Drew Goddard, we’ve got a team that’s as formidable as the Defenders themselves.”

We also recently got word that the character of Malcolm from ‘Jessica Jones‘ (portrayed by Eka Danville) will be making an appearance in ‘The Defenders,’ which potentially means that every hero will be bringing members of their supporting cast to the mini-series. In a recent interview with SpoilerTV at Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Melbourne, Australia, Eka Danville did confirm his involvement in the ‘Defenders’ event:

Spoiler TV: Malcolm and Jessica were quite close by the end of Jessica Jones. So I was wondering if you know yet whether or not you’ll appear in ‘The Defenders’?

Eka: Yes. I will be in it. I’m not sure how much yet but I will be in it.

Are you excited to see Malcolm come back for the ‘Defenders,’ or did you not like his character in ‘Jessica Jones?’ Do you think Petrie and Ramirez are up to the task of being show runners on the ‘Defenders,’ especially in light of how ‘Daredevil’ season 2 dipped in quality under their reign (not much to be sure, but it definitely did).
