Tom Hiddleston made a name for himself playing the most playing the most popular and enduring villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki the god of mischief.  Hiddleston’s Loki has appeared in both ‘Thor’ movies and as the main antagonist in ‘The Avengers’.  He plans to return in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ but that may be, in his words “my last time out of the gate.”

Here is what he said about appearing in the third ‘Thor’ film, which is due next fall:

“Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years.  I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.”

Nooooooooooo!  No more Loki?

Sadly, none of Marvel’s other villains have resonated with fans the way Hiddleston’s Loki has, although we’ve known since ‘The Avengers’ that Thanos would become the Big Bad of the movie-verse.

But is there ANY way that Loki could show his horn helmeted face during the upcoming ‘Infinity War’?

“I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know.  They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.”

For the time being, at least fans have ‘Ragnarok’ to look forward to.  It hasn’t been officially confirmed, but it’s all but a given that Cate Blanchett will be joining the fun as Hela, goddess of the underworld.  Hiddleston seemed quite enthusiastic at the prospect of facing off against Blanchett in this fantasy:

“That would be extraordinary.  I don’t know if she’s definitely doing it, but obviously she’s an extraordinary actress. If she’s up for coming to Asgard, that would be interesting. [Ragnarok] is coming around. I saw Chris Hemsworth in Australia. He lives about an hour away from where we were shooting Kong: Skull Island, and he was full of beans about Thor 3.”

Finally, while Loki won’t be a player in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Civil War’, he has definitely picked his side in the upcoming clash between heroes.  Is he #teamcaptainamerica or #teamironman?  Ha.  As if.

“He’s clearly on Team Loki.  They were all fairly unkind to him in The Avengers, so I’m not sure he’d be taking sides. [He’d think] ‘Ah! This is entertaining.”

Are you upset that Loki won’t be a more steady presence in the upcoming Marvel movies?
