Supergirl-TheFlash

After some poo-pooing, CBS has relented and granted fans their wish by allowing its freshman show ‘Supergirl’ to host a crossover with The CW’s headliner ‘The Flash’.  The tale deals with dimensional travel, something that has factored heavily on this season of ‘The Flash’ as the hero has jumped back and forth between his home world, Earth-1, and its darker parallel world Earth-2.  Over the course of the last few episodes, while traveling between dimensions, viewers have been treated to an image of Supergirl (played by Melissa Benoist) and a Legion of Super Hero flight ring, an artifact that recently popped up when Supergirl visited the Fortress of Solitude.

The upcoming crossover is sure to be a major event and to promote it, CBS has released a promo image which pays homage to the often homaged cover of classic comic ‘Superman’ #199.  Check it out:

Below, you can see this image side by side with the comic book cover that inspired it:

The original cover featured a never before attempted race between Superman, who boasts super speed among his myriad of abilities, and The Flash, whose super speed is essentially his only ability.  But is The Flash is ‘The Fastest man Alive’, where does that leave Superman?  Well, this issue settled that argument once and for all.

As you can see, on the original cover, the two speedsters are surrounded by their fellow Justice Leaguers, but the CBS promo poster swaps them out for the ‘Supergirl’ supporting cast.

The crossover episode is entitled “World’s Finest” and will air on March 28th.

Here is the description:

Kara gains a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash (Grant Gustin) suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, aka Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home, on SUPERGIRL.

As previously reported, Silver Banshee will be played by Italia Ricci while Livewire will be played by Britt Morgan.

Are you excited to see these two superheroes meet in live action?

‘Supergirl’ airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS; ‘The Flash’ airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.  Their crossover airs on ‘Supergirl’ on Monday, March 28.
