Independence Day Resurgence Jeff Goldblum David Levinson

It’s been 20 years since the people of Earth came together to fight an alien invasion and now history is destined to repeat itself with the sequel to ‘Independence Day,’ ‘Independence Day: Resurgence.’

The film takes place with the same amount of time having passed since the first film was released when the alien mothership was defeated by Dr. David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) and Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith) – with a little help from Russell Casse (Randy Quaid). As the saying goes, to the victor goes the spoils and the alien technology that was left from that victory was reverse engineered and used to advance our planetary defenses by leaps and bounds. However, before the mother ship was blasted, the aliens were able to send out a distress signal… and now more of their kind have returned to seek vengeance.

We are also introduced to the new set of heroes in the form of Liam Hemsworth and Jesse Usher who join our returning protectors to save the world.

As former President Whitmore says, “They’re coming back” and it looks like this time we may need more than an uploaded virus to defend them.
