Deadpool-Wolverine

It’s well known that Hugh Jackman won’t be in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and that his next appearance in the role that made him famous will be in 2017’s follow-up to ‘The Wolverine’, directed by James Mangold.  But after some playful ribbing from Ryan Reynolds, who is starring in the upcoming ‘Deadpool’, Jackman might be fired up enough to slap on the prosthetic claws one more time… provided he gets to use them to take down Deadpool in a film!

A few days ago, a new promotional video was released, featuring Deadpool wishing his down under fans a Happy Australia Day, “because that’s a thing.”  He also offered to “forgive” Australia for inflicting ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘ on the world, playfully placing the blame for that “career low” on Aussie Jackman.  In case you blocked it out of your memory, ‘X-Men Origins’ introduced Reynolds as a version of Deadpool that bore little resemblance to the cartoonish comic book assassin.  Hell, the Merc With A Mouth was robbed… OF HIS MOUTH!

Though financially successful, ‘X-Men Origins’ was panned by fans and was wiped from existence by ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.  But I guess the time travelling shenanigans weren’t enough to wipe the emotional scars from Reynolds’ psyche… or resume.

Watch Deadpool take cheap shots at Jackman in this video:

How did Jackman react to the digs in the video?

“Love it. It’s just brilliant. I mean, I love Ryan, he’s a good mate of mine. He’s so fantastic!”

Would he be willing to retire from his retirement and suit up as Wolverine one last time to battle Deadpool in a movie?

“A hundred percent… I’ve never thought about it till now, but doing something with Ryan – he’s awesome – that’s always attractive to me.”

Jackman was promoting his new movie ‘Eddie the Eagle’ with co-star Taron Egerton (‘Kingsmen: The Secret Service’), to which he directed the comment, “But I think [Fox has] probably got several other people lined up to play [Wolverine]… probably you…”

To which Egerton replied, “I don’t think I’ve quite got the facial hair for it.”

Would you like to see Jackman’s Wolverine take on Reynolds’ new comic-accurate Deadpool?   And what would you think of Taron Egerton as a new younger Wolverine?

You can catch Ryan Reynolds as ‘Deadpool’ on February 14th.  The next untitled ‘Wolverine’ movie is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2017.
