Batman-V-Superman-Doomsday1

RUMOR/SPOILER ALERT: This article addresses RUMORS about the upcoming ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’, which may also be considered SPOILERS! Proceed with caution and also a grain of salt!

Some fans are ecstatic about ‘Batman V Superman’, the movie that really kicks off Warner Brothers’ (potential) blockbuster film universe featuring the DC Comics stable of characters.  While many are psyched that Batman is returning to the big screen, embodied by Ben Affleck and others are thrilled that the most famous female superhero Wonder Woman will actually grace the silver screen for the first time, portrayed by Gal Gadot, there are many that are nervously wringing their hands just hoping that this movie doesn’t suck.

But heroes are only as strong as their villains, and the most glaring chinks in this movie’s armor are definitely the antagonists.  Jesse Eisenberg delivered a passionately awkward performance as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the acclaimed ‘The Social Network’.  But many are reading his performance of mastermind Lex Luthor in the released clips from ‘Batman V Superman’ as too heavy on that same spastic awkwardness.  Meanwhile, what was surely expected to be the “Holy Sh**” moment from the newest trailer, the reveal of Doomsday was greeted with skepticism as some saw the CGI rendering as being crude and not as impactful as the original comic rendering.

But maybe Warner Brothers has an ace up their sleeve that they have yet to reveal.

The latest RUMOR is that another DC villain, who is quite honestly overdue for a big screen debut, will pop up in the film although not as a major presence.  The rumor is that this foe will only make a brief appearance to set up a future conflict in ‘Justice League.’

Who is it?

bizarro-3Bizarro!  In the comics, Bizarro is an imperfect duplicate of Superman, mimicking the hero in many ways, including his power set, but flawed in others, with a warped sense of logic which results in chaotic (and often comedic) results.

Bizarro’s depiction has largely run all over the place.  During much of the 1950s, Bizarro was treated as strictly a comedic character who lived on a square version of Earth called Htrae, or more commonly Bizarro World.  Using the Bizarro Ray, Htrae was populated with strange skewed versions of many Earth characters including Superman’s supporting cast Lois Lane, Perry White and Jimmy Olsen, as well as twisted versions of the Justice League, including Yellow Lantern among others.  Unlike the real Superman, Bizarro married his version of Lois Lane and had a rascally son, Bizarro Jr.  ‘Tales of Bizarro World’ became a regular feature in Superman comics of the time and while they are old fashioned, they are still delightful and have been reprinted in numerous volumes by DC over the years.

HOWEVER, in other depictions, Bizarro is a downright deadly villain, whose incredible powers are an even foil for the Man of Steel’s.

Many assumed that the trailer for ‘Batman V Superman’ in which Michael Shannon appeared as the dead corpse of General Zod meant that Luthor somehow turned Zod into Doomsday.  (Which, honestly is still the most logical explanation, based on other reports.)  But could dead Zod actually become Bizarro?

Would you like to see Bizarro take on this new film version of the Justice League?  What take would you like to see taken with him; comedic or deadly?

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
