SPOILER ALERT! This article deals with a huge SPOILER for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ so if you want to avoid SPOILERS turn back now!

A few days ago, none other than Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford tweeted a message regarding the upcoming ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ which got people buzzing:

Hmmm, a sword fight between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), huh?  The trailer had already shown Finn (John Boyega) locked in a lightsaber duel with Kylo which some speculated meant that Finn would be the first of a new wave of Jedi.  But, as is becoming increasingly common, it appears that a toy tie-in has actually spoiled a possible plot twist.

With Hanukah under way and with Christmas approaching, toy makers are cranking out new product to light up the holidays for kids of all ages and one such treat is the at-first, seemingly innocent new Rey action figure.  But this toy includes an accessory which may actually be quite telling.

Yep, that’s a lightsaber.  Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber to be exact.  Both Rey’s and Finn’s last name have been withheld prior to the film’s release, so could that possibly mean that Rey is related to Luke and Leia (and Darth Vader)?  Could she represent the next generation of hope against the growing threat of the First Order?

This action figure is technically dubbed “Rey (Resistance Outfit).”  The Resistance is the new name for the Rebel Alliance.  Since they overthrew the Empire and assumed control of the galaxy (far, far away) they are no longer rebelling but are apparently resisting the remnants of the Imperial sympathizers.

But can we talk about this “Resistance Outfit?”  Drab, neutral colors?  Bandage-like wrappings?  Loose linen fabric?  And aside from the toy, we know she first pops up on a desert planet, in this case Jakku.

Well, to the right is an image of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker from ‘A New Hope’  Luke was, of course, the focal character of the original trilogy, who eventually ascends to the position of the master Jedi of the galaxy, but who starts out as a simple moisture farmer on a (yep) desert planet, in his case Tatooine, decked out in bland neutrals including a loose-fitting linen top and bandage-like wrappings around his legs.

Can we just concede that Ridley’s new character is, in fact, Rey Skywalker?

Does that really spoil anything?  All the speculation and rumors have pretty much confirmed that out of Rey, Finn and Kylo, at least one of them would be the offspring of someone from the original trilogy.  And while Han and Leia are clearly still together and sort of in the public eye as Leia is now a leader of the Resistance, Luke is famously in hiding and very little has been disclosed about his role in the new film.

If the new Rey action figure is any indication, Luke is now the galaxy’s most Force-attuned Baby Daddy.  (The question now arises, who’s the Baby Mama, hmmm?)

And as for Finn wielding a lightsaber against Kylo Ren in the footage that has been released?  Remember Han used Luke’s saber to slice open that Bantha in ‘Empire’ so one doesn’t have to be a Jedi or any other Force-sensitive individual to use one… but it helps if you want to be good at it.

Do you have your “Rey (Resistance Outfit)” action figure yet?  How do you feel about Rey possibly being Luke’s daughter?  Are you ready to put your Hope in her hands?
