With ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ only weeks away J.J. Abrams is on a rampage with interviews teasing the film without revealing any concrete details and today he talks about the secrecy going into the movie. With ‘Star Wars’ having become one of the cornerstones of Disney’s cinematic universe, it is very clear exactly how important the opening of this film is to both fans and shareholders alike. A repeat reaction to Lucas’s second trilogy could prove financially disastrous to the franchise and company. Of course, even if that wasn’t the case Abrams has long been known to keep his films under wraps as much as possible.

So what did he say about working on the movie?

“It was something that while we were working on the movie, I realized how engaged with the fans and forthcoming Lucasfilm had always been, and my nature, which is to keep things quiet, was something that I was certain we were going to have fights about and my wanting to keep the audience surprised when they went to see the movie. But Disney, to my shock, was arguing to not ruin, not reveal, not show, every story beat. And we’ve all seen trailers for films that literally show you the movie in Cliff’s Notes form and then you go to see the film and you’re like, yeah, that was literally the movie. I saw it in a two minute, ten second piece.’

Thankfully Disney understands the importance of a good reveal and while we all would want to see more sooner it is that desire that will get us all into the seats on opening weekend.

I, for one, can’t wait. If you’re in the same boat these 7 new images from ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ should help tease you that much more into wanting to check out the film asap!

Lets take a look:

Not only are those some great shots but a few that are background worthy as well. That isn’t all though as I did mention that Carrie Fisher’s daughter was going to be showing up. I did say Fisher’s daughter and not Leia’s as her actual daughter Billie Lourd will be appearing in the film as a “top secret character” who you can see below.

No news on who she’ll be playing but not only does she seem to visit the same hair stylist as her mother does but how cool does this blue giraffe necked robot look. I wonder what exactly he was made for.

Are you happy that Disney wanted Abrams to try and stay quiet about ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’? Which of the shots above was your favorite?

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ starring John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
