Apparently David Ramsey has been following the internet reaction to the new costume his character Diggle will be sporting on Season 4 of ‘Arrow’ (set to premiere next week!), and it has struck a nerve. Because of all the negativity he has heard, he has decided to step in and defend the new look, which is admirable:
“I know there’s a lot of criticism that it looks like the Magneto helmet. But by the time you see Diggle in action – we also get into what the helmet can do – you won’t be thinking of the X-Men at all…There is a very cool gun too. The gun and the helmet, by the way, are S.T.A.R. Labs creations”
So while defending the costume, we the audience got to learn some new information, which is always exciting. Not only does it include a special gun (which has always been Diggle’s weapon of choice), but the whole thing was put together by S.T.A.R. Labs, meaning Cisco clearly took some time away from his busy schedule to upgrade his friends in Starling City (most likely because he knew they needed help with Oliver and Felicity “retiring” between the season). I am actually fairly excited now to see what upgrades this special gun might have, and whether it will in any way be similar to guns created by Cisco for Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and Golden Glider. And while it is true that some of the shots of the helmet out there currently do make it look slightly Magneto-ish, there are other shots of it in use, especially when the visor is on, when it is clearly its own creation, and I have faith now that when the show premieres it will all make sense.
