With ‘Supergirl‘ late to the party this season, (not premiering until October 26th while its competition ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Gotham’ and ‘Agents of SHIELD’ are all starting in the next week or so) it is understandable that CBS is attempting to keep the buzz on their new caped crusader. As such, they have recently released a brand new trailer for season 1 of ‘Supergirl,’ which I will warn might be a bit spoilery for anyone squeamish about that sort of thing.

In the trailer, we see scenes and shots from not only the pilot, but also from other episodes during the season, with Kara flying, user her super breath, heat vision, super-strength, all of the things we had hoped her character would be able to do in the show. Also seen are a couple of villains for the season, including Hellgrammite (played by Justin Leak) and Reactron (played by Chris Browning).

For those not in the know, Hellgrammite is a particularly disgusting villain whose origins trace back to a serum he created for himself during his days as entomologist Roderick Rose, a serum which transformed him into a monster possessing super-human strength that can secrete adhesives and weave cocoons. As for Reactron, he is a villain capable of generating radiation from his body, which he can shoot out as radioactive blasts. His heart is supposedly made of golden kryptonite, which can allow him to render a Kryptonian (like Supergirl) powerless for around 15 seconds.  Reactron is a classic villain from the ‘Supergirl’ comics, though unlike the comics, it does not look like he will be wearing his golden armor on the television show.

What are your thoughts on the new trailer for ‘Supergirl’ ? (check it out below) Do you think it looks a bit too campy to be able to compete with the other superhero shows on TV? Or will it be able to balance all of its aspects and deliver a satisfying show? Let us know your opinions in the comments below!
