Columbia Pictures just released the US trailer for ‘Goosebumps,’ the frightening family action/comedy coming this Halloween season, based on R.L. Stine’s bestselling tween-skewing novels of the 90s.  Now, the studio has already rolled out a longer international trailer packed with even more thrills!

Check it out here:

The film adaptation is directed by Rob Letterman and stars Jack Black as a fictionalized version of R.L. Stine himself, as well as Odeya Rush as his teenage daughter Hannah and Dylan Minnette as Zach, the new boy next door.  The film also stars Amy Ryan, Ken Marino, Jillian Bell and Ryan Lee.

Here is the synopsis for the film:

Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling “Goosebumps” series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Expect an all-star parade of the famous ghouls from the books (and television series) including Slappy the ventriloquist Dummy, the Abominable Snowman of Pasadena and rampaging Gnomes.

This kid-friendly chiller lumbers into theaters in 3D on October 16.  That’s no trick… but will it be a treat?
