Ever since we’ve found out that Martin Freeman (‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’) has a mystery role in ‘Captain America Civil War‘ everyone has wanted to know what it would be. This latest rumor may just answer that question.

One of the more popular theories placed him as either Everett Ross or Henry Gyrich who both work for the government. The first of whom deals with Wakanda and the second of whom has a long history with super powered individuals. Though if this rumor rings true, both of those characters will end up being very much not who Freeman is playing.

As always if you are wanting to avoid potential spoilers before an official announcement is made, you should turn back now!

So who will Freeman be playing? The latest rumor has him cast as Edward Chase, the Prime Minister of England in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. After Captain America goes head to head with Crossbones in England and causes massive amounts of damages as well as the loss of lives of British soldiers, we’ll see Chase helping spearhead the pro-registration side of the film to try to keep government control over The Avengers. Not only that but this Prime Minister might not have his country as the top thing he is looking out for. You would may remember that in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ that before the twins and Ultron stopped in to speak to Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaw he was on the phone with someone he called Minister.

Was this a a hint that the Prime Minster might be working with Klaw at acquiring vibranium or arms for some reason? It would appear so as the rumor continues that said phone call will come up when Chase and Daniel Brühl‘s Baron Zemo are talking at some point in the film. It’ll be quite some time before we see if the Prime Minister is being mislead here or is really working with Zemo. If this all proves to be true it wouldn’t be too surprising if we end up seeing Klaw show up in the film as well.

While that is still firmly grounded in the rumor department what isn’t a rumor is the first shot of Paul Bettany on set for the film which you just have to check out below!

How spoiler filled is that! Bettany joking with us aside I can’t wait to see more of The Vision and how they’ll end up using such a super powered being in the film.

Would you be happy to see Freeman take on the role of a villain of some sort? Do you think that this could be a strong indication that Klaw shows up in the movie as well? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
