There is a very prominent villain that was rumored to be included in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ who did not make the cut when the film itself was released. This could be considered spoiler territory for some so you have a second to turn back.

That being said I’m not talking about Thanos! If you had already read past rumors, you would know that at one point Tom Hiddleston had actually filmed a scene reprising his role as Loki. Well, the God of Mischief did not actually make an appearance in ‘Age of Ultron’ even though he and his scepter from ‘The Avengers‘ was referenced quite a few times and is quite important to the film’s plot.

So why not Loki? Well, it looks like actual footage starring him had been shot, but according to director Joss Whedon it just didn’t fit into the film.

“We did shoot something, but it didn’t play. The movie has so much. It’s so filled. We didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus.

At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.”

There is no word as to if he’ll be included in the director’s cut, but speaking for anyone who feels that Hiddleston has been hand’s down one of the best additions to Marvel’s cinematic universe, you can be sure I’m rooting for it to happen.

You can listen to Whedon’s full quote below.

While we sadly didn’t get any love for Loki in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ it would be a safe bet that we’ll be seeing him in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ as he’s now occupying the throne in Asgard . And there is always the chance that he could also be showing up in the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ films assuming he survives his next outing with a brother who I am sure is quite displeased with him.
