NetherRealm showed off two of their characters, Kitana and Reptile, for their upcoming game ‘Mortal Kombat X’ in an hour long showdown on Twitch. Both characters have been given gameplay trailers in the past, but this was a chance for fans to see the two fighting up close and personal, and well as to see the upcoming game in more elaborate detail.

The stream wasn’t all fighting – they took time to show off some concept art for the characters and an alternative outfit for Kitana, as well as describing new content to this newest installment to ‘Mortal Kombat’ series while also explaining the basics of the game to new players.

One feature that the stream spends some time detailing is the character’s different fighting styles that they can switch between in the character selection screen, in particular for Reptile. Reptile’s three styles are: Deception (giving him invisibility), Nimble (increasing his speed while slowing down his opponent’s), and Noxious (which creates an unblockable poisonous gas around him). Each style has its own benefits, so the player must choose which advantages they would like to take advantage of.

As a note, the NetherRealm staff clearly stated in the beginning of the stream that the game, despite its release only a couple months away, is still a work in progress, so details such as damage count, reactions, or setups could change or disappear in the coming months, but on the whole, there shouldn’t be too many changes to what you see on the stream now.

‘Mortal Kombat X’ will be out April 15th of this year for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, and pre-orders for collection editions are available for purchase now.
