Professional wrestlers have always been considered by some people to be real life superheroes. With their larger than life personalities, brightly colored costumes, and tremendous feats of strength – it’s not really a farfetched idea to buy into. And fans come in all ages, shapes, sizes, and walks of life. But recently a certain fan from Starling City has taken offense to a new nickname that a wrestling legend has been using on WWE television as of late.

During the annual World Wrestling Entertainment event ‘Survivor Series’ in November 2014, WCW legend and pro-wrestling icon Sting made his highly anticipated debut in WWE by assisting Dolph Ziggler and the rest of Team Cena in removing The Authority from power. After being widely considered as the greatest performer to never appear in a WWE ring for years, the face-painted warrior swooped in and attacked Triple H with his signature Scorpion Death Drop. From that moment on, the Stinger has been referred to as a vigilante by announcers and the WWE Universe for saving the day. However, that nickname has become synonymous with another mysterious figure of television these days.

Before becoming the Arrow on The CW’s hit DC Comics drama, Oliver Queen was known throughout his city as the Vigilante whenever he put on his green hood and picked up a bow. Recently, ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell (who is an avid WWE fan) took to his Facebook page in full Arrow attire to address Sting’s new moniker. He proclaimed, “Tread carefully, Stinger,” and posted the following video as a reaction to the twelve-time heavyweight champion appearing on Monday Night Raw for the first time ever on January 19, 2015 in order to help John Cena regain the jobs of Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, and Erick Rowan:

Obviously, Amell is playing around, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome. For all we know, he may have gone into full Arrow costume just to film this. Even if that’s not the case, this could be a fun setup for a potential face-to-face confrontation between Sting and Oliver Queen some time in the future. After all, Sting is set to appear at WWE Fastlane later this month to have a similar stare-down with the WWE COO that he embarrassed during his first appearance in the company. Also, Amell has been campaigning for a while to guest host an episode of Raw. With Sting making his presence felt more and more in WWE, it’s possible that the vigilantes could duke it out for the right to that name. Actually, it’s more likely that they meet each other and cut a promo in the ring or in a backstage segment, but either way, we could see them meet in the near future and see the WWE and DC Universes combine.

Who do you think truly deserves the title of The Vigilante, ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell or the wrestling legend Sting? Do you think that the Arrow could hang with the Stinger in the squared circle? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
