Aside from the assembling a myriad of up and coming talent such as Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Rachael Taylor for their cast, Marvel Studios and Netflix announced last week that sci-fi icon David Tennant has joined ‘A.K.A. Jessica Jones.’ The actor best known for his work as the 10th Doctor on ‘Doctor Who’ will star as the villainous Zebediah Kilgrave, AKA The Purple Man, but now it looks like the long-running British science fiction show won’t be the only genre staple being represented on the streaming service’s upcoming thirteen-episode series.

Deadline revealed early this week that Carrie-Anne Moss of ‘The Matrix’ trilogy is the latest star to join ‘A.K.A Jessica Jones’. While no character name has been revealed at this time, it’s said that Moss will play “a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica – if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.” Though there’s still a degree of mystery surrounding the character, executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg shares with Marvel.com that she is confident that the ‘Memento,’ ‘Chocolat,’ and ‘Disturbia’ star will be a valuable addition to the show no matter what Moss turns out to be:

“Throughout her career, Carrie-Anne has embodied a wide range of characters in a compelling and relatable way and I have no doubt she will bring that talent to ‘A.K.A. Jessica Jones’.”

Executive producer and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb reiterated this sentiment as well and praised Moss’ skills:

“Carrie-Anne has proven her ability to play complex characters with deep and layered inner lives. Her interaction with Jessica Jones will be one of the many highlights of the series.”

As pre-production rolls on with this show, we’re sure to learn more about Carrie-Anne Moss’ character, but until then, here’s the official synopsis for the show:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
