Bungie has released a new behind-the-scenes preview trailer for the upcoming ‘Destiny’ expansion called ‘The Dark Below.’

The trailer introduces ‘Destiny’s’ new ‘The Dark Below’ expansion, which will feature brand new content for the game including new missions and quests, as well as weapons, armor. There will also be three new multiplayer arenas and even a new character to interact with. The level cap has been pushed up to level 32 from the game’s original level 20 cap (30 for those who found the rare armor). The narrative premise for the upcoming DLC expansion itself is simple, beneath the surface of the Moon lies a long-forgotten enemy that players must work together to take on in order to stop its dark army from invading Earth.

‘The Dark Below’ expansion is included with the $35 DLC pass that came out alongside ‘Destiny’ at launch, which also provides access for the next expansion entitled ‘House of Wolves’ coming out sometime in 2015. However, those who do not have the DLC pass and wish to buy ‘The Dark Below’ expansion individually can do so across all systems for $20.

Originally launched in September, ‘Destiny’ is the newest online first-person shooter franchise by Bungie, the development studio who originally created the ‘Halo’ series. The game takes place in a world that has experienced a Golden Age of technological discovery and exploration after an entity known the Traveler arrived on Earth, which gave way to humans colonizing all over the solar system. However, after a terrible event known as “The Collapse” decimated these colonies and all that was built, humans were forced to hide underground beneath the worlds they had once knew. ‘Destiny’ puts players in control of one of the Guardians of the last city on Earth, who has been given the ability by the Traveler to wield an incredible power as they come back up to the surface to fight the threats above and explore the solar system once more.

‘The Dark Below’ expansion will be releasing on December 9. ‘Destiny’ itself is currently available now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
