It looks like ‘Krampus’ has just picked up two new actors for the film. For those who don’t know much about this new holiday themed horror story, the main thing you need to know is that it is going to be directed by Michael Dougherty. For those of you unfamiliar with Dougherty’s work, he is the man behind the new cult classic Halloween horror story ‘Trick ‘r Treat‘ so I’ll be both excited and fully backing anything that he puts together. The film is being released by Legendary Pictures and will be released on the big screen on December 4th, 2015.

So who has joined the cast? Well so far two names have surfaced and they are Allison Tolman (‘Fargo’) and Emjay Anthony (‘Chef’). The two are set to play a mother and son that are being attacked by the Krampus. Anthony’s character is being setup to be the hero in order to save himself and his mother, but one has to wonder what he did in the first place that was so bad that his life is now in danger?

The film is being written by Dougherty as well as Todd Casey (‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’,’Thundercats’) and Zach Shields. Not to be confused with Kevin Smith’s ‘The Anti-Claus‘ which was previously titled ‘Comes the Krampus,’ the film will show a slightly more European take on what actually happens around Christmas when Krampus, a European fold legend goes after the bad children that Santa ignores, comes a-knocking. According to the stories, Krampus tends to abduct the children and do quite horrible things to them. What is interesting to note here is that Smith’s film is set to be an anthology series and Dougherty’s entries into horror are ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ and the recently announced sequel which are both anthology films as well. Could this mean that ‘Krampus’ is set to go the same route?

Personally if the movie is anywhere near the quality of ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ I have a feeling that this will be knocking ‘A Nightmare Before Christmas’ off of my favorite Christmas Horror spot.

Are you excited to seeing Michael Dougherty return to horror in ‘Krampus’? Do you think Tolman and Anthony will be the stars of the film or will this be an anthology and we’ll be hearing a lot more casting in the near future?
