Brad Pitt‘s (‘World War Z‘,’Fight Club’) production banner, Plan B has been pretty busy as of late and their latest science fiction survival adventure ‘Alpha’ has just been picked up by Lionsgate for distribution! The project is by the author Daniel H. Wilson (‘How To Survive a Robot Uprising’,’Robopocalypse’) and a new Canadian filmmaker, Anthony Scott Burns, is set to be in the director’s chair and have this be his feature debut. Aside from Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will also be on board to produce.

The idea grew from Wilson’s mind and he is fully on board to adapt it to a screenplay. While details aren’t too well known what information, we do have is that it will be a science fiction survival story that has a Jack London feel for it. London was behind such works as ‘White Fang’ and ‘The Call of the Wild’ which hints that we may have the lead character or characters being hunted and possibly have to survive through the cold. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess being hunted by aliens, maybe on an another world. Of course, that is just speculation.

What is interesting though is that we also know that part of the pitch involved creating a fake commercial which Burns shot that involved a fake company that is central to what the story is about.

While we won’t know much about the fake commercial or what the company has to do with a plot until later on, we can give you an idea of Burns’ work in this short film that he is directed called ‘Manifold’ that you can check out below.

Do you think a science fiction survival story sounds like fun? After seeing ‘Manifold’ above do you want to see more of what Burns can do? Share your thoughts below!
