More news on the ‘Suicide Squad‘ front as it looks like rising star Jai Courtney (‘Divergent‘,’I,Frankenstein‘) is aiming to play Deadshot in the film. This is pretty hot on the heals of the announcement that Margot Robbie (‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, ‘Tarzan’) is all set to play Harley Quinn. It seems like we’re finally seeing the cast come together but with a 2016 release date it shouldn’t be too surprising that we’re finally finding out which villains will be in the film and who will be playing them.
With Deadshot being traditionally a major character in the ‘Suicide Squad’ this could potentially be a large role for Courtney who has racking up the hits as of late with the success of ‘Divergent’ and his casting in ‘Terminator Genisys‘ so this could see him in another potential starring role. Deadshot is traditionally introduced as an assassin for hire who never misses and started off as one of Batman’s villains. He has since become a member of the Suicide Squad in recent incarnations and with his disregard for most human life, he has become quite an invaluable member.
Not only is the casting of Courtney new, but we’ve also learned that Tom Hardy is in talks to play Rick Flag who is the founding member of the Suicide Squad and Will Smith is rumored to be up for Captain Boomerang who is one of The Flash’s villains. With Jesse Eisenberg potentially making an appearance as Lex Luthor and Jared Leto in talks to play The Joker this could be quite the star studded cast in its own right.
