There is a lot of ‘Arrow‘ news coming out today as we not only know who is finally been cast to fill the boots of Ra’s al Ghul but we also get a new trailer for the upcoming third season! Ra’s al Ghul will be portrayed by Matt Nable (‘Riddick‘,’Killer Elite’) who is used to doing action and genre so should be a good fit for the role.
While Ra’s al Ghul might be one of Batman’s most prolific villains, his League of Assassins have already been hitting Starling City and we’ve all been waiting for him to make an appearance. We’ve seen his daughter Nyssa already go up against the team and according to executive producer Marc Guggenheim she “will absolutely play into the season and we have a really cool arc planned. The first time we see Ra’s [in the third season] is a scene between him and Nyssa.” I’m sure that will be a fun family reunion as he probably won’t be too happy with her failures so far.
On Ra’s himself Guggenheim mentions that, “We have a really clever way of doing Ra’s this year that is true to the comic-book origins but different from the way Ra’s was portrayed in the [Christopher] Nolan movies. You don’t want to compete with Batman Begins, even though we’ve always said Batman Begins was a big influence on us. We really wanted our Ra’s to be very different — at least our own Arrow-ified version.” It’ll be interesting to see what exactly he means by that.
Enough about the big bad for now though, I did mention we had a trailer to share with you as well. Let’s take a look!
That was 90 seconds well spent if you ask me. More of Oliver Queen hitting on Felicity, a high speed chase, a look at Brandon Routh‘s Ray Palmer, and the return of Sara Lance. All in all we get a nice roundup of what is to come without what looks to be any major spoilers.
