To close out on their highly anticipated panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios ventured out into the cosmos and revealed some exciting new developments on the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After Kevin Feige and the cast of ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ showed off some footage for the fans in Hall H, Robert Downey Jr. got on the mic to share who the next big threat for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is once Phase Three rolls around: The Mad Titan Thanos! That’s when Josh Brolin walked out on stage wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.

Earlier this year, rumors circulated about the ‘No Country For Old Men’ and ‘True Grit’ star joining the ranks of the Marvel movies, now the casting has been made official. Immediately after the announcement was made, Marvel.com reported the news and revealed that we’ll definitely be seeing him in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ Once Brolin got off the stage, he shared his overall thoughts with Marvel’s YouTube channel:

Speaking of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ the end of the panel also saw an exclusive video from director Gunn and star Chris Pratt with a very special message. Even though their first movie doesn’t premiere until August 1st, they announced that a sequel featuring Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer is coming on July 28, 2017. Recently, the filmmaker admitted that he would love to do another movie with these characters and now it seems that he’s getting his wish. This also marks the first of Marvel’s newly announced dates through 2019 to be filled. With ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Captain America 3’‘Doctor Strange’, and now ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ in the works, Phase Three is really starting to shape up.
