About a month ago the International Trailer for Lockout was released, creating buzz on the internet. Guy Pearce (star of ‘Memento’) comes to the sci-fi scene as a wrongly accused convict who is given his chance at freedom if he can save the President’s daughter (Maggie Grace of ‘Lost’) from an uprising prison. The catch? The prison is in space.
Directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger in their first Hollywood film, this looks pretty intense. Writer Luc Besson is known for his science fiction with ‘The Fifth Element’, and his action in ‘Taken’, so the film has both quality and new eyes on the science fiction scene.
What I found most interesting is Peter Stormare playing the villain in this. I always relate him to ‘Fargo’ and ‘The Big Lebowski’, so I’m interested to see what he brings in as the villain. I know he has been in a lot since then, but that is how I most recognize him. Here is the trailer so you can see the new intensity James Mather and Stephen St. Leger are bringing to science fiction.
