Sorry, Damion Poitier! It looks like Marvel Studios has brought in someone else to play Thanos from here on out. When the Mad Titan first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the post-credits scene of ‘The Avengers’ in 2012, the ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ and ‘True Blood’ actor stepped into the role of the wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet, but it appears that a different actor will be providing the voice for the character in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

While Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser is set to be the main bad guy in the film, it has been said that Thanos will play a role in ‘Guardians’, especially because of The Collector’s appearance in ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and the villain’s ties to Gamora and Nebula. Now Latino Review has learned that Josh Brolin will play the powerful purple-skinned villain in the upcoming Phase Two film and potentially down the line in ‘The Avengers 3’, where the Guardians have been rumored to next appear.

Brolin is no stranger to comic book movies. Though he’s probably best known for his roles in ‘No Country For Old Men’, ‘True Grit’, and the remake of ‘Oldboy’, he has brought characters from your local comic shop to the big screen when he played Jonah Hex in the 2010 DC Comics adaptation and a young Agent K in ‘Men In Black 3’. If he actually is playing Thanos, then he adds one of the most feared beings in the Marvel Universe to his resume.

However, it’s best to note that this report has yet to be verified, so you should take the news with a grain of salt for now. Latino Review does have excellent sources, and they do tend to be right more often than not, but it’s still good to wait for official confirmation from Marvel before taking something like this to the bank.

Rumor or not though, Brolin is a solid actor who has the capability to play some extremely intimidating characters, so I could definitely see him doing well with the Mad Titan. Plus he has the necessary strong jawline. If this does end up happening, are you happy with Marvel’s choice for Thanos in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and beyond?
