Last season of ‘Arrow’ we met Nyssa Al-Ghul, portrayed by Katrina Law, the daughter of the leader of the League of Assassins, Ra’s Al-Ghul. And while the League and their leader were mentioned, Ra’s Al-Ghul did not physically appear on screen. But come this fall, that will change as the mastermind Eco-terrorist will make his debut on this show (and not ‘Gotham’ strangely).
The actor playing the villain hasn’t been named, but at least parts of him can be seen in the Season Three trailer. Also shown are the new Count Vertigo, played by Peter Stormare, as well as Black Canary (Caity Lotz) and Arsenal/Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) and new addition, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, a character who, in the comics, is also the super hero The Atom. (Teryl Rothery has already appeared on the show as Jean Loring, The Atom’s former wife… will she make a return appearance? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.)
Also worth noting is that Seth Gabel appeared on Season One of ‘Arrow’ as The Count, a character very similar to Count Vertigo. In fact he was a dealer of a drug called “Vertigo.” So will the two characters have some connection? Surely that will be addressed.
Not shown in the trailer is Devon Aoki, who will be playing Tatsu Yamashiro, who in the comics is sword-swinging hero Katana, and will be interacting with lead character Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) in flashback sequences, which jumped from “The Island” (Lian Yu) to Hong Kong at the end of the last season. We do, however get a few shots of Karl Yeun who plays her husband Maseo, who will serve as a mentor to Oliver.
But for now, check out the trailer below:
Yes, we still have a few months to wait until the show returns, but at least we know it’s in the works and slightly what to expect. What are you most looking forward to this season?
