Ellen Page a.k.a. the X-Men’s Kitty Pryde introduced an exclusive clip from ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ on the MTV Movie Awards.  This clip had previously been included in the first ten minutes of the film, unveiled by director Bryan Singer at CinemaCon a couple of weeks ago, but this was the first time it has been broadcast to a world-wide audience.

The clip shows the fugitive X-Men being attacked by Sentinels, high tech shape shifters, unlike the large clunky robots previously shown.  In the clip we get to see new mutants Bishop (Omar Sy), Blink (Bingbing Fan), Warpath (Booboo Stewart) and Sunspot (Adan Canto) alongside veterans Colossus (Daniel Cudmore) and Iceman (Sean Ashmore).

I’ll just let you check it out yourself before chiming in with my comments:

1. I think Blink looks pretty cool and her teleportation powers are rendered well.

2. Bishop’s powers are kind of dumb.  I mean he absorbs energy and channels it into a big honkin’ gun?  What if the gun wasn’t around, would he even know he was a mutant?  Kind of specific.

3. Also, just because he’s called Sunspot, doesn’t mean he has fire power.  In the comics his power is to absorb solar energy (and there wasn’t much in terms of that visible here) and turn it into super strength.  That’s it, no fire projection.  They could have just as easily substituted in Sunfire who actually does project fire.

4. Coolest part?  We actually get to see Iceman in ice form for the first time and riding an ice slide for the first time!  Awesome!

Well, what did you think?  Does this make you more excited to see the new semi-relaunch?

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ opens on May 23.
