The star of geeky series ‘Ed’ which aired on NBC for four years, Tom Cavanagh has been cast in the pilot for ‘The Flash’ as Harrison Wells, a character that has been referenced on ‘Arrow’ as the head of S.T.A.R. Labs.  He is described as “a rock star in the world of physics and the mind and money behind Central City’s S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator.”

Of course, if you’ve been keeping up with ‘Arrow’ you know the particle accelerator didn’t quite work out how it was intended.  After a malfunction, it mixed with stormy weather and turned Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into The Flash.  Well, not quite yet, but we all know where this is going.

After this disaster, Harrison Wells has to work his way out of a hole.  “He becomes a pariah after the lab’s explosion, but he charts his path to redemption when he discovers that his failed experiment had the unintended consequence of creating the world’s fastest man.”

‘The Flash’ stars Grant Gustin as The Flash/Barry Allen as well as Jesse L. Martin as Detective Thomas West, Candice Patton as West’s daughter Iris, Danielle Panabaker as bioengineering expert Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne/Reverse Flash (?) and Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe.

‘Arrows Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter will serve as executive producers. Berlanti, Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns are all contributing to the pilot’s script, while Nutter will direct the pilot. Melissa Kellner Berman will also serve as co-executive producer.

So what do you think?  Are you glad to see Tom Cavanagh back on a genre show?
