S.H.I.E.L.D. is totally in this season. With ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ making a splash on ABC and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ bringing the global peace-keeping organization into the spotlight, it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing the agency quite a bit throughout the remainder of Phase Two all the way to ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. And of course, what would the group be without one of their most prominent figures, Maria Hill? Well, it looks like we don’t have to worry about one of Director Fury’s finest being left out of the party.

While speaking to IGN about the series finale of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and their upcoming 200th episode, Cobie Smulders confirmed that she will be appearing in Joss Whedon’s follow up to ‘The Avengers’ next year alongside newcomers Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and James Spader. The actress was extremely tight-lipped about the sequel, but that doesn’t mean that she’s not enthusiastic about putting the uniform once again for the fourth time:

“I’m not talking about Avengers anymore… Ever! [Laughs] I’ll tell you, I’m excited about it. I know everything there is to know, but I’m not saying anything about it — until literally the movie’s out on DVD. Then I’ll be like, ‘Wasn’t that a great part?’ But I’m very excited. Joss Whedon is the best man on the planet.”

Smulders continued by saying that she was unsure about future appearances alongside Agent Coulson and his team on their network television show, but she mentioned that the crew over there is “doing such a wonderful job”. With her long-running sitcom coming to a close after this season, she should be freer to reprise her role from the pilot and show up on the Bus again, but until we get official confirmation on that, we’ll just speculate about what the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe holds.

Are you glad to hear that Cobie Smulders will be back to reprise her role as Maria Hill in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’? Do you hope that she’ll appear on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ more often once ‘How I Met Your Mother’ wraps it’s nine-season run? Sound off in the comments below.
