Ever since it was announced that the long-running fan favorite cartoon ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ would be ending, fans have been wondering what would replace it now that Disney had acquired Lucasfilm. Well, back in May, we learned that the show meaning to fill the void is called ‘Star Wars: Rebels’. Set in the time period between the two trilogies, the show will follow group of young rebels as they come of age while the Empire comes to power. Most recently, we heard rumors that David Oyelowo of ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler’ would be joining Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray, and Steven Jay Blum as the voices of the cast, but nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet. However, something official was unveiled last night on Disney XD.

Last week, the internet was buzzing about Lucasfilm revealing a short teaser for the highly-anticipated series during the premiere of ‘Mighty Med’ on the House of Mouse’s action packed channel aimed at young boys. Now the day has come and we can finally lay eyes on the first trailer for the upcoming series. You can check out the video below:

I know what you’re thinking and, yes, that’s really it. Considering that the show is still a year away, I wasn’t expecting much from this teaser, but I did hope for a little more than what we got. Maybe the studio will reveal more at their panel at New York Comic Con later this week. But until then, this is all we got.

Are you disappointed by the teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars: Rebels’? Despite the disappointment, are you still excited for the show to premiere? Do you think that by exploring the twenty years between the trilogies it will make up for the loss of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’? Share your thoughts in the comments.
