Following the release of the trailer for the remake of ‘Robocop’, Columbia Pictures and MGM have released seven new images from the film, highlighting the all-star cast.  While the title character, portrayed by Joel Kinnaman (‘The Darkest Hour’, ‘The Killing’) is a relative unknown here in the States, the filmmakers chose to pad out the supporting cast with big names such as Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson.

Here is the film’s synopsis:

In the film, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

So what do you think?  Some were upset at the very idea of a remake.  Others were upset that Robocop’s cybernetic parts were painted black.  As you can see here and in the trailer, at least at some point, he will be silver like the original.

‘Robocop’ stars Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.  It opens in theaters on February 7, 2014.
