Seeing professional wrestlers in movies these days isn’t so far fetched with people like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Dave Bautista appearing in mainstream movies. However, back in the early 2000s, that wasn’t as common. So in order to get their wrestlers into movies, World Wrestling Entertainment created WWE Studios and started making their own movies built around one of their superstars like John Cena, The Miz, or Randy Orton. Most of these films were a bust, but one stood out as more than pretty good when ‘See No Evil’ was released in 2006. And now, it appears that WWE and Lionsgate are going back to the well one more time to bring Jacob Goodnight back to the big screen.

According to a press release, WWE Studios and Lionsgate have announced that production on ‘See No Evil 2’ starring WWE Superstar Kane will begin in the fall. Following the killing spree in the Blackwell Hotel in the first film, the sequel sees Jacob Goodnight rise from the dead to terrorize a group of medical students in the city morgue. Written by Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby, the film will be directed by identical twin horror directors Jen and Sylvia Soska.

WWE Studios President Michael Luisi had the following to say about the release of ‘See No Evil 2’:

“We are so pleased to extend what has been an ideal partnership with Lionsgate. Their expertise in distributing and marketing thrilling genre films complements our own vision and efforts for these movies perfectly. We are equally excited to work with the Soska Sisters, who will apply their truly unique filmmaking style to ‘See No Evil 2’.”

With WWE upping their movie game lately with such movies as ‘Leprechaun: Origins’ and ‘The Call’ starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin, hopefully ‘See No Evil 2’ will be able to keep up with the new quality of WWE Studios films rather than regress back to ‘Legendary’, ‘The Reunion’, ‘The Marine’, or basically any movie with John Cena in it.

What do you think about WWE Studios revisiting their first feature film ‘See No Evil’ with a sequel? Will the Soska Sisters and future WWE Hall of Famer Kane make for an excellent horror tag team? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
