One of the most spectacular things about ‘The Hobbit’ was the scenery seen throughout the film. The surroundings took the movie goer away to another world. What’s so ironic is that the far away world of ‘The Hobbit’ is actually the not so far away country of New Zealand.

In this new featurette for ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’, the stars of the film talk about what it was like to film on location in New Zealand as well as the beauty of Hobbiton. This impressive behind the scenes look not only gives a glimpse of the country’s landscapes that serve as the backdrop for Middle Earth but also gives glimpses of the actors during the filming of the movie.

As you can see from this featurette, New Zealand is definitely as much an integral part of ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy as its stars.
