Scarlett Johansson Continues Kicking Butt In ‘Lucy’

Around these parts, Scarlett Johansson usually gets talked about in the context of Marvel movies because of her role as the Black Widow in ‘Iron Man 2’, ‘The Avengers’, and the upcoming ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. However, it sounds as if she’ll be playing another superhero of sorts for French director Luc Besson, who’s certainly no stranger to strong female protagonists.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ScarJo has signed on to star in Besson’s latest film titled ‘Lucy’. Though it doesn’t explicitly mention the word superhero, it sounds like something straight out of the pages of a comic book. The film will follow an unwilling drug mule that experiences a crazy transformation after the drugs enter her system and give her miraculous powers such as the ability to “absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts”.

The action filmmaker known for his work on ‘La Femme Nikita’, ‘Taken’, ‘The Transporter’, and ‘The Fifth Element’ will not only occupy the director’s chair, but he has also written the script and he will produce the film under his EuropaCorp banner with partner Christophe Lambert and veteran producer Lisa Ellzey.

By the sounds of it, Johansson is more of a superhero in ‘Lucy’ than she is in the Marvel Universe since Widow doesn’t really have any powers. Regardless, after the actress wraps on her current Marvel project alongside Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and company, she’s expected to report to set with Besson to continue her streak of ass-kicking action roles.

How do you expect Scarlett Johansson to do in Luc Besson’s latest film, ‘Lucy’? Does this sound like something you’re interested in checking out? Let us know in the usual place.

  • I love Scarlett

scarlett can be in a commercial about diarrhea and I would still watch it. She is by far the hottest superheroine out there. I think her blackwidow outfit should show more of her body.

she only “doesn’t really have any powers” if you say Cap is also w/o such, she’s a supersoldier also with literally more than a lifetime of experience (the variant serum she got traded strength boost for being basically ageless)

Other than that she’s basically Batman in the film: mind-games gathers the team outwits big-bad, kicks all kinds of @$$…and while there wasn’t much shown in Avengers film she’s got tons of gadgets. now no one says Bats isn’t “enough of a superhero” since he has no “powers” they just say he’s not super-powered
