What happens when you’re a celebrity partying at another celebrity’s house and the apocalypse begins? Well, if you’re Seth Rogen (‘Green Hornet’, ‘Paul’), Danny McBride (‘Land of the Lost’, ‘Your Highness’), Craig Robinson (‘Hot Tub Time Machine’, ‘The Office’), Jonah Hill (‘The Watch’, ’21 Jump Street’) and Jay Baruchel (‘Robocop’, ‘Tropic Thunder’) at James Franco’s (‘Oz, The Great and Powerful’, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’) house, you continue to hang out until you get the all clear. That is unless you run out of food and start to get cabin fever then hilarity ensures.
In this new red band trailer for the film ‘This is the End’, the apocalyptic sci-fi comedy horror flick has celebrities playing themselves as disasters begin to surface all around the Franco home. As the world unravels outside and the supplies begin to dwindle (well, it doesn’t help that Emma Watson had a hand in that problem!), the 6 friends are forced to leave the house and face their fate all the while learning what true meaning of friendship really means… or it’s an excuse to see A-list celebs die.
“We thought it’d be funny to see really famous people die in super graphic ways,” Rogen told HuffPost. “People were into it. At first we thought they’d be insulted or something like that — and some of them were — but most of them weren’t. They were into it.”
And into it they were as the trailer all show how the likes of Rhianna, Mindy Kaling, Aziz Ansari and even Jason Segel and more meet their comical demise in the film.
It’s not easy to mash up these genres into a parody film like this, but it seems that Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogan have found that balance to make this film work. While there have been numerous parody attempts to copy the success of ‘Airplane’, none have come too close, but ‘This is the End’ may be one worth considering.
