Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Frank Grillo of ‘Warrior’ and ‘The Grey’ would be playing the mercenary Crossbones in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. However, whenever someone signs on for a Marvel movie, they’re usually locked in for a couple of appearances. This seems to be the case with Grillo because in a new report from Comic Book Movie, we may be seeing Brock Rumlow in ‘The Avengers 2’.

According to the report, radio host Matthew Aaron shared with his listeners that a “Marvel rat” told him that Frank Grillo would be reprising his role as Crossbones in two more movies after ‘The Winter Soldier’. The first reprisal would be in the sequel to Joss Whedon’s epic superhero team film, but the third is speculated to be the third Captain America film.

First of all, if Crossbones were to appear as a villain in ‘The Avengers 2’, then it would be likely that he’d be a second or third tier villain because most roads lead to Thanos as being the big baddie of the movie. Or it could be very possible that Marvel is building towards the appearance of some version of the Masters of Evil, a group of supervillains that ban together to try to defeat the Avengers.

Then, if Crossbones is appearing in the third Cap flick, could that mean that they’re on the road to Civil War and ‘Captain America 3’ could be Ed Brubaker’s incredible ‘Death of Captain America’ storyline?

All this is purely speculation, of course. We’ll have to wait and see what actually transpires in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ on April 4, 2014 and in the rest of Phase Two before we can really start thinking that far ahead.
