NBC has added another sci-fi genre show on their development list and this one has the executive producer of ‘Lost’ attached to it, Carlton Cuse.

Cuse will be working with screenwriter Ryan Condal to adapt Oni Press’ graphic novel series ‘The Sixth Gun’ which was created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt. This isn’t the first graphic novel adaptation Condal has worked on as he had also written the script for Oni’s ‘Queen & Country’ which is still in development at Fox and the screenplay for Radical Comic’s ‘Hercules: The Thracian Wars’ which has Dwayne Johnson attached.

‘The Sixth Gun’ is about six magical guns in the Old West that possesses otherworldly powers . The Sixth gun, was the most powerful and dangerous of all, had vanished without a trace. When it suddenly resurfaces in the hands of an innocent girl named Becky Montcrief, dark forces reawaken and vile men long thought dead set their sights on killing Becky and retrieving the gun for themselves. Only a gunfighter with a shadowy past named Drake Sinclair stands in the way of the evil that looms.

Besides scribing the teleplay, Condal will serve as executive producer along with Cuse who has quite a few projects he’s currently working on. Besides running the A&E production of ‘The Bates Motel‘, Cuse will also be running Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Strain’ over at FX.

With the unclear future for ‘The Dark Tower‘, this may be the only hope to see a supernatural Western getting made. As with all television projects in development, if the network likes the script, the next step would be to make a pilot. Keep your fingers crossed on this one as ‘The Sixth Gun’ sounds like it would be a unique show to watch!

We’ll keep you updated with the progress of this project as it comes in…
