Armie Hammer Back In Talks For ‘Justice League’… Again?

Superhero team movie castings seem to be the hot topic of today. Earlier today, rumors dropped about Ms. Marvel making an appearance in ‘Avengers 2’. Now, on the DC side of things, it appears that the ‘Justice League’ movie may have found it’s Batman.

According to Moviehole (via Blastr), Armie Hammer of ‘The Social Network’ and ‘Mirror, Mirror’ is rumored to be attached to WB’s assembly of DC heroes. The funny part is that the actor was attached to the role before. Back when a ‘Justice League’ project was in the works before the writer’s strike under George Miller, the then-unknown Hammer was lined up to play the Caped Crusader alongside Adam Brody as the Flash, and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman. But then that whole project fell apart and a new ‘Justice League’ movie didn’t come together until DC kicked things into high gear after ‘The Avengers’ was a massive hit.

The report also notes that the studio doesn’t want Hammer for a solo Bat franchise. If he were to sign on to the film, the actor would only be Batman in the Justice League films. So much for continuity and a shared movie universe, right?

I’m not sure how I feel about Armie Hammer being cast as Batman. He’ll definitely be a different Bruce Wayne than what we’ve seen thus far onscreen, but maybe that’s a good thing. Just because he’s the Dark Knight doesn’t mean he has to be super dark all the time. Though I’m not exactly looking for another Adam West here either. What do you think about this rumored casting? I don’t see him doing well in an action movie…

ditto, and The Dark Knights have been their biggest hits to date, why throw that away? With The Avengers they followed the theme started by Iron Man and Thor (light, humorous, still badass). DC sounds like it’s going to be launching a new look/feel universe on the back of this with no lead in(s)?

Well, you have to consider the fact that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale seem to want nothing to do with it.

Its because they have realised the Justice League movie is only being rushed now due to the popularity of ‘The Avengers’ they are trying to do the same thing with the Dc universe without the set-up films.

    Hate it cause I can………booo

Armie Hammer is drop dead beautiful, but he seems too wholesome. He’s more of a Superman than a Batman.

As Superman? Nope. Although, I think Armie would make a really good Kyle Raynor (the second Green Lantern).

I really think they are making a mistake by not going with a “shared universe” between movies. I was kinda hoping to see a Ryan Reynolds-as-Hal Jordan cameo in Superman next year and maybe go from there, but I guess not.

    Shave his head…Lex Luthor!
Oh, and bring in Tom Welling to play Supes…PLEASE!
For Batman, how about ‘Ben Browder’ of Farscape and Stargate SG-1?!
–He’s a bit older now, but I always thought that HE could be an awesome
    Batman / Bruce Wayne!!
