James Mangold’s crew has moved from the Australian outback to Tokyo, Japan to continue shooting ‘The Wolverine’. While filming at a Buddhist temple, some photographers got some shots of Hugh Jackman and company filming some scenes. Thanks to Comic Book Movie, you too can check out what’s going on in the Land of the Rising Sun as Wolverine tangos with some samurais.

The first thing to note about these photos is that this scene appears to be taking place at a funeral. Logan has traded in his X-Men outfit for something a bit more formal, and he’s joined by a large crowd of people at the Zojoji Temple.

The second noticeable thing from these pictures is the redheaded woman standing next to our hero. This is our first look at model-turned-actress Rila Fukushima in costume as Yukio, one of Logan’s love interests in Chris Claremont and Frank Miller’s classic Japanese adventure. CBM notes that in the story, Mr. Howlett’s two love interests represent the two paths that he must choose: Yukio is a deadly assassin who has fallen for Wolverine because of his impressive savagery, and Mariko, played by Tao Okamoto, is afraid of the animalistic side of Logan and requires him to have self-control and honor in order to win her heart.

After things wrap up in Tokyo, the production is supposed to head to Hiroshima.

‘The Wolverine’, directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, and possibly Svetlana Khodchenkova, opens in theaters on July 26, 2013.
