Dredd 3D Is The Law In This New Featurette And Clip

With less than 3 weeks away from the theatrical release of ‘Dredd,’ Lionsgate has unleashed two new videos to tease the upcoming movie.

The first is a clip from the film, which although rather short, it does have Karl Urban in the titular role uttering the character’s signature line: “I am the law.” It plays very well against the clip that was released last month of Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) declaring open season on Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby).

The second video is a 2 minute featurette which features some great commentary from John Wagner (creator of ‘Dredd’), producer/writer Alex Garland, director Pete Travis and star Urban about what makes Dredd such a fascinating character. The featurette also contains some fabulous new footage!

A special preview of ‘Dredd’ played at Comic-Con and received enthusiastic kudos to its rendition. The film’s R rating is due to the seriously graphic and brutal violence as seen in the red band trailer that was released a couple months ago but many fans feel that the tone stays true to the comic series. This week, ‘Dredd’ will make an appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival screening on September 6^th and September 8^th.

Synopsis:

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.
