Since we first heard about The CW’s new superhero drama ‘Arrow’, we’ve known that Dinah Laurel Lance would be in the show and played by Katie Cassidy. For those unfamiliar with the name, Lance is also known as the Black Canary, who’s not only known as a object of affection for Oliver Queen, but also as being a part of the team Birds of Prey. Well, it appears that she won’t be the only one from that team to make an appearance in Starling City because Jessica De Gouw has just been cast as Helena Bertinelli aka The Huntress for a multiple episode story arc.
According to Comic Book Resources, the Australian actress will play the vigilante and potential love interest for Queen “whose determination to destroy her father’s criminal empire puts her on a collision course with Arrow.” De Gouw joins other recent cast additions for the first season such as ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Torchwood’ star John Barrowman as an unspecified wealthy and well-dressed acquaintance of the Queen family and Michael Rowe as skilled assassin Deadshot.
Now that Black Canary and the Huntress have been introduced into this universe, I wonder if we’d possibly see Barbra Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle) to complete the Birds of Prey team or maybe Karen Starr (Power Girl), frequent collaborator of Helena’s.
Following the crime fighting escapades of a wealthy bad boy with a bow, ‘Arrow’ starring Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, and Colin Donnell premieres on The CW on Wednesday, October 10th at 8:00pm.
