It’s been quite a few years since we last heard from Chris Carter and now he’s headed back to the small screen with a new police thriller which is said to have a supernatural element to it.

All that is known so far about this new series is that it’s called ‘Unique’ and will have a female lead. Carter has had the idea for this show for some time and had presented it to Media Rights Capitol to produce and help the show find a home. The series will be pitched to networks soon with the hopes that it will get a straight to series order. If that happens, Carter will write, direct and executive produce ‘Unique’. Since the project hasn’t even been green lit by any network yet, no word about what the plot of the series will be or who will star in it.

Carter hasn’t been involved with a small screen project since 2002 with the success of ‘X-Files’. Since then, he’s written and directed short documentaries and hasn’t really had anything mainstream since 2008 with ‘X-Files: I Want to Believe’. His latest project, ‘Fencewalker’ , which he wrote, directed and produced is currently in post-production.

Hopefully ‘Unique’ will find a home as it has been too long since we’ve seen something from the mind of Chris Carter. Although, according to Gillian Anderson, there’s talk of an ‘X-files 3’, we’ll just have to file that under ‘the truth is out there’ and ‘trust no one’ until we hear from the man himself.
