With Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ filming in Pittsburgh, every fanboy with a camera is keeping their eager eyes open for a glimpse of anything relating to the much anticipated comic book film. Earlier today, an image hit the net of what appears to be a new vehicle headed into Pittsburgh’s Wabash Tunnel on the way to the Dark Knight set. The new bat-vehicle looks like a cross between the tumbler from the previous bat-films and some kind of hovercraft or plane.

Is this mysterious vehicle the Batwing? No one knows for sure yet. If it is, I think it looks cool and fits with the previously established canon of Nolan’s bat-films. However, I still prefer the Batwing from Burton’s ‘Batman’ since this new one can’t do that awesome and iconic fly-in-front-of-the-moon bat symbol scene.

Seems like the pics originated from this Twitter account of @rpetrocelli.

What do you think? Is Nolan going to reveal the Batwing in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’? If so, what do you think of the design?

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is directed by Christopher Nolan and comes out July 20, 2012 starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine.
