In a move that should surprise no one as ‘Pokemon GO’ is all that anyone can talk about when it comes to entertainment on social media these days, Nintendo is bringing the Pokemon to San Diego Comic-Con International 2016! While Internet connections are often sketchy at the event due to the large influx of attendees, if you can get online there will be plenty of opportunities to play.
Not only that, but visiting the panel will let you talk to John Hanke who is the founder of Niantic Labs and helped develop the game which has taken the mobile gaming world by storm. If you are there on Thursday he will be on the “Re-Imagining Reality: Bringing Games into the Real World with Ingress and Pokemon GO” panel and “will examine the past, present and future of extending games beyond the screen and re-imagining reality through the lens of Ingress and Pokémon GO.” While this is clearly his baby for the immediate future it wouldn’t surprise me with the success that it is seeing that we’ll hear about something else in development soon.
The event is set to take place in room Room 25ABC at 5pm on Thursday afternoon. Chances are the panel will be packed and I don’t think it would surprise anyone if a rare Pokemon or two happened to attend the panel as well and that quite a few may pop up around SDCC.
I’m pretty sure the massive success of the game so far will only fuel the fire for the live action Pokemon movie that studios are trying to bring to the big screen. I mean, the game itself has already had more Android installations than the popular “dating” app Tinder in the US and has helped Nintendo’s stock to rise over 22%!
